United Community Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. Formed in 1943, we are a full-service financial institution offering an alternative to conventional banking. We are made up of member depositors who also are the owners of the credit union. Because we are not-for-profit, all of our profits are returned back to our members through higher dividends, lower loan rates or value-added services. Our Mission Statement is:
| "United Community Credit Union is committed to being our members' preferred financial institution by consistently exceeding their expectations with high-quality, low-cost financial solutions along with exceptional personal service, and operating in a manner that ensures the long-term economic viability of the credit union." |
We are a democratically run organization. Our members meet annually and elect our Board of Directors who are also members of the credit union. Also elected each year is the Credit Committee, which oversees the lending function of the credit union. UCCU also has a Supervisory Committee that performs the audit function and ensures we operate within the required regulatory guidelines. All of our committee members are unpaid volunteers who are extremely devoted to seeing that the credit union functions in the best interest of all our member-owners.
United Community Credit Union is insured by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S Government Agency. All member deposits are insured up to $100,000. Because UCCU is a state-chartered institution, the VT Department of Banking has oversight authority. They routinely conduct independent examinations to ensure safe and sound practices.
Today United Community Credit Union serves over 5,600 members. As we continue to grow we will be able to expand our service offerings and provide our members with the best financial services offered anywhere. |
